A MAN was arrested for a string of offences after a car crashed into the front of a business in north Carlisle.
It happened today when a red Mercedes was in collision with the front of the Stanwix Podiatry building at the top of Stanwix Bank.
A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 11.35am following a report that an Audi TT car was in collision with a parked vehicle in Chatsworth Square, Carlisle.
"A short time later, the Audi TT was involved in a further collision with a tree at Cavendish Terrace.
"A separate vehicle, a Mercedes, believed to be linked to the overall incident, was then in collision with a vehicle at Stanwix Bank, before continuing along Stanwix Bank and colliding with a building.
"A man, 27, was arrested by officers on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, aggravated taking without consent, police assault and driving while unfit through drugs/drink. He remains in custody today."
The police spokesman added: "A female driver, involved in one of the collisions with the Mercedes, suffered injuries believed not to be serious at this time."
Traffic passing the scene was slow for a time as cones were put in place warning motorists of the obstruction.
