The White Horse Sea Angling Club’s 2018 trophy winners have been celebrated.

The winners gathered for a photograph to mark their achievements last year.

The H Telfer Individual Champion was J Murdock on 178 points, who was also the winner of the Paul Chapman Memorial Trophy for the most fish caught in a year with 125, Corkhill Bros Memorial Trophy and the Lea Hasson Trophy.

Murdock also caught the second heaviest fish of the year with a conger eel which was 13lb 8oz.

The Acorns Trophy for the individual runner-up went to T Pullin, who racked up 150 points.

Pullin enjoyed an incredibly successful year, picking up the Tow Bar Trophy for the heaviest bag of the year for a haul of four thornback rays and three dogfish which weighed in at 34lb 13oz.

The Graham Laidlow Trophy for the memorial knock-out competition winner also went Pullin’s way, as did the award for the heaviest fish of the year with a 10lb 80z bull huss, the Thompson Trophy, the Sougnez Rose Bowl Trophy, the Cowser Trophy and the Ray Bull Memorial Trophy.

J Murray’s 124 points earned third place in the individual competition, but Murray did clinch the Leadbetter Trophy.

The Robertson Trophy went to B Patrickson, who was also fourth in the individual with 115 points and finished runner-up in the memorial knock-out, as well as picking up the James Sempie Memorial Salver for heaviest cod of the year with a 6lb 15 oz catch.

The F Telfer Shield for the junior champion was handed to S Carruthers, who scored 18 points, and Carruthers also took the Kelly Trophy for the heaviest fish from a junior for a 5lb 6oz thornback ray.

A strong performance from A Hartley earned the Tony Roberts Trophy for the specimen fish of the year with a 14lb 7oz thornback ray which was two thirds of the way to the British record.

The ray also clinched Hartley the Harry Keys Cup for the heaviest fish of the year and Hartley finished joint-seventh in the individual with P Bragg, both on 87 points.

The Matthew Brown Trophy for the most fish caught in a match belonged to S Benson with an impressive 18 fish which included seven whiting, seven dabs, three dogfish and a thornback ray.

The Special Trophy for the heaviest flat fish of the year went to T Tew for a 3lb 2oz plaice, and Tew finished fifth in the individual, tied with P Gilmour on 101 points.

S Benson was sixth in the individual with 89 points and L Lynch came in in eighth with a respectable 82 points.
