This May local elections will be held for Allerdale Council as well as local town and parish councils.
Some candidates have already announced they will be running for election in the upcoming vote.
The elections for Allerdale Borough Council will be held under the new ward boundaries and seats. The number of seats is reducing from 56 to 49 as well as boundaries changing.
The Boundary Commission’s electoral review of Allerdale concluded in November 2017.
The aim of the review was to deliver electoral equality for voters in local elections and recommend ward boundaries that ensure all councillors represent approximately the same number of electors.
It also aimed to deliver effective and convenient local government, and ensure that ward boundaries reflected interests and identities of local communities.
Alan Pitcher, councillor for Wigton is standing again in the 2019 local elections.
Councillor Pitcher, said: “It doesn’t matter what party you belong to, you should always do your best for your ward.”
Since the boundaries have been changed the Wigton ward has increased.
“I feel there is plenty to do and contribute and would like to continue to do my bit”, added Mr Pitcher
