A man charged with the murder of his mother has appeared at Carlisle Crown Court.
Lee Sowerby, of Honister Drive Workington, entered no plea when he was brought before His Honour Judge Peter Davies today.
Appearing via video link from HMP Durham the 45-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.
Sowerby, who was represented by David Thompson, has been remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at the crown court on May 20, where he is expected to be brought to the court in person.
He was charged with the murder of Mary Annie Sowerby following an investigation into her death at her home address in Main Street, Dearham, on Tuesday.
