Being caught in possession of drugs with intent to supply some of them has landed a Cockermouth man with a suspended jail sentence.

Matthew Steven Nawrockyj, 34, of Greyrigg Avenue, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Workington to face two charges.

Magistrates were told that, on June 3, 2018, Nawrockyj was caught in Cockermouth with quantities of class-C diazepam with intent to supply.

He also had a quantity of class-A cocaine.

Nawrockyj admitted both charges, brought under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

He was given a 16-week jail sentence, suspended for a year.

During that year he must carry out 160 hours of unpaid work and undergo rehabilitation.

He must pay a £115 surcharge towards victim services and £85 costs.
