A new group which aims to help newcomers to Cumbria meet new professional contacts is holding its second event this week, following a successful inaugural event last month.

The Newcomer’s Network is hosted by law firm Burnetts and has been set up to help those new to the county, or to their roles, to meet other like-minded newcomers and experience the most interesting things to do in Cumbria.

The event takes place at Eden Rock, Carlisle’s indoor climbing centre on Wednesday, from 6pm to 8pm.

The idea for the group came from newly promoted associate solicitor Sarah Loan. Originally from Northern Ireland, Sarah came to England to study in Hull.

She completed her training in Cheshire and moved to Cumbria to take up her role at Burnetts.

Sarah said: “Everyone in Cumbria is very friendly and welcoming, but because everyone knows each other so well, it can take a while to properly settle in. I thought a group like the Newcomer's Network would be a great idea for professionals moving into the area to get to know other people more quickly. Anyone new to their job, and wanting to develop their professional network, is also welcome and we encourage those who are more established, but want to come to 'bring a newcomer' – as we wouldn’t want anyone to lose out.”

After the session there will be an opportunity to chat with like-minded people and enjoy freshly made pizza and a drink, on the rocks of course!

The event cost is £17 plus VAT per person. Visit https://tinyurl.com/y8lf6ko3
