A WEATHER warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office as temperatures look set to plummet for a second night.
It is due to come into force at midnight tonight and last for 12 hours, covering all but the west coast of Cumbria.
The yellow warning states ice will form on some surfaces overnight into Tuesday morning across much of the UK.
It says there is a risk of injury due to ice on some roads, pavements and cycle paths and some roads and railways may be affected.
This morning some of Cumbria’s highest roads - Hardknott Pass, Cold Fell Road and Corney Fell Road - remained closed due to ice.
In Carlisle, temperatures dipped to -4.1C last night.
