PLANS have been submitted to expand Inglewood Care Home in Wigton.
Cumbria County Council received the plans for the home, on Lowmoor Road last month with consultation on the proposals to end on Thursday.
If approved, the extension to the current facility will see six more beds established at the home, ring-fenced for local patients needing NHS care.
The beds will replace some of those lost at Wigton’s community hospital.
A spokeswoman for Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said: “The county council and Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are currently in the process of appointing a contractor to carry out the renovation and extension works at Inglewood Care home.
“A contractor will be in place by the end of January and we expect the works to begin soon after that.”
“We expect works to be complete in the spring.”
