Roxanne Pallett - who last year branded herself the “the most hated girl in Britain” - is about to return to television... on Celebrity Coach Trip.

The former Emmerdale actress, from Carlisle, became the most talked about person in the country when she accused Ryan Thomas of ‘punching’ her on Celebrity Big Brother.

The 36-year-old whipped up a frenzy in the CBB house and was on the receiving end of huge backlash from viewers who rushed to the defence of Coronation Street actor Thomas.

The reality show became the most complained about programme of 2018 - with the majority of those relating to the incident involving Roxanne. Media watchdog Ofcom received 27,602 complaints from viewers about the Channel 5 reality TV series.

The backlash forced her to quit social media, resign from her job as a co-host on Minster FM’s breakfast show and step back from panto commitments this Christmas.

She has not been seen on television since.

But now Roxanne is set to reappear on the nation’s television screens alongside her former Waterloo Road co-star and Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson.

She’s due to make her debut on the show on episode eight, which will air on E4 on Wednesday night at 7.30pm.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said of the show: “The group of celebrity tourists reach Denia, and are joined by Roxanne Pallett and her friend George Sampson. Later, the group’s wine tasting gets out of hand.”

Among the other celebrities taking part in the show are Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby and her boyfriend Joshua Ritchie, Strictly Come Dancing duo James and Ola Jordan, Sugababes singer Mutya Buena and Lisa Maffia from the So Solid Crew and Made in Chelsea stars Sam Thompson and James Dunmore.

The show’s format consists of teams of two undertaking a coach tour, principally of continental Europe. Passengers remain on the tour only until they are voted off by their companions on one day, to be replaced by a new couple the following day. The travellers are accompanied by tour guide Brendan Sheerin, who appears in every episode.
