A 92-year-old woman from Carlisle who was knocked over by a car has died.

The collision happened in Newtown Road, Carlisle, on December 20 about 4.20pm.

It involved the woman and a Vauxhall Astra being driven by a man in his 70s. He received no injuries in the collision.

The woman was originally taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with injuries believed to be minor, police have said.

However, the woman died yesterday at the hospital while attending an appointment.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson said: "Inquiries are ongoing into the cause of death, including whether there is any link to the collision.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or anyone with dashcam footage to contact police on 101 quoting log number 147 of December 20."
