Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership is looking for members.

It is recruiting for people to join its sub-board governance bodies and work with existing members in its new governance structure.

The new governance structure includes sector panels and strategy groups, responsible for ensuring that Cumbria LEP’s strategic priorities are aligned, taking forward the new Local Industrial Strategy and exploiting any funding opportunities which may arise.

The LEP has nine sector panels which cover key Cumbrian business sectors – advanced manufacturing, construction, the creative and cultural sector, health and social care, logistics, nuclear, professional services, rural, and the visitor economy.

Its five strategy groups – covering business environment, ideas and innovation, people, places, and transport and infrastructure – designed around the core themes of the Government’s Industrial Strategy.

Cumbria LEP is inviting CVs and covering letters from business people explaining which sub-group they wish to be involved in, why they would like to be involved and what they would be bring to the group.

Jo Lappin, chief executive of Cumbria LEP, said: “This is a real chance for those passionate about Cumbria to come and take a leading role in shaping our economic future.

“We would like to see more business people involved in taking forward economic growth in Cumbria to work alongside all of those currently involved, who have been doing an excellent job in taking us this far.

“The board wants to be open, inclusive and doing the things that matter most to our businesses. That’s why it’s really important that we have strong private sector involvement throughout our governance structure.

“New members appointed to these groups will have the opportunity to work collaboratively to identify opportunities and address any challenges to help move forward Cumbria’s economy.”

The closing date for applications is January 18.
