A Maryport shoplifter who stole goods worth less than £15 has been landed with a court bill of more than 10 times that amount.
Zara Louise Peel, 28, of Senhouse Street, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Workington to face one charge of stealing from a shop.
Magistrates heard that Peel stole goods worth £14.96 from B&M in Maryport on November 22.
She admitted the offence and was ordered to pay a £40 fine, £85 court costs and a £30 surcharge.
