Drivers will face less disruption on journeys between West Cumbria and the M6 from Friday as roadworks are lifted.
Highways England is working on a £390,000 safety-improvement project to create a dedicated right-turn lane at the junction for Thornthwaite village.
Temporary traffic lights are currently in place between 8.30am and 5pm each day, with the junction closed for the duration of the project.
But Highways England has announced that the roadworks will be lifted between Friday, December 21 and Sunday, January 6 for the Christmas period.
The scheme is due to be finished in early February.
