Review: The Wizard of Oz, The Sands Centre, Carlisle, until December 31

In her pink, sparkling gown, Dame Glinda (Jack Thomas) set the tone for a glittering, fun-packed show that had youngsters giggling and adults laughing out loud for more than two hours.

As the storm hit Kansas, brave Dorothy (Ashleigh Butler) was transported to Oz and the fun started. The Ruby slippers were on and she sang her way down the yellow brick road to find the Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Lion.

Robbie Dee was a laugh a minute as the Scarecrow, with an endless supply of toilet - and - dad jokes, while Nicki French obviously loved being the green-faced baddie, the Wicked Witch of the East.

Excitement levels rose even higher when the water guns came out to keep the audience in line - as well as squealing with delight.

While the front rows were in most danger, bigger guns found their targets further back in the auditorium.

The panto was given a dramatic wow factor by Dance Captain Miley Rose who performed incredible circus-style acrobatics on sheets of silk suspended from the roof of the stage.

After audience favourite Toto helped defeat the wicked witch with a bucket of water and Dorothy finally managed to get back to Uncle Henry, with the help of a little magic, Robbie Dee really got the crowd going with Baby Shark.

After more than two-hours of belly aching laughter, it was great to see children and adults joining in with the Baby Shark actions and helping to finish a great show on a big high.
