Road closures are in place as Storm Deidre strikes in Cumbria.

A66 Brough to Bowes has been closed after a number of collisions, black ice and poor conditions, will see the trunk road stay closed in both directions until the weather improve.

Cumbria Police has tweeted that the Corney Fell road in west Cumbria has been closed in both directions.

A spokeswoman from Cumbria police reported, no accidents, but people are stuck on the road at the moment.

Met Office forecasters have issued a yellow and amber weather warning for snow and ice in Cumbria for today.

They have warned that it is likely to be accompanied by uncommon freezing rain, which can make travelling conditions very dangerous.

The Corney Fell closure is from the A595 Bank End turn-off (Duddon Bridge) to A595 Broad Oak turn-off.
