AN inspirational eight year-old girl is donating her hair and hundreds of pounds to the Little Princess Trust this Christmas.
Freya Hutchinson, of Currock, Carlisle, set about growing her locks two years ago and recently told her parents she wanted to give her hair to the charity which makes wigs for children and young adults who have lost their hair due to cancer.
She is due to have seven inches cut off her waist-length hair at Carlisle hairdressers Mungo Jaxx today.
Her mum Sarah Hutchinson, 35, is bursting with pride.
"I don't even think she realises what she is doing is so lovely," she said. "We are extremely proud of her. I know this is the start of her going on to raise money for other things.
"She just likes to help others and to do it off her own initiative is even nicer. It just shows the person she is."
As well as donating her hair Freya will be donating about £400. Her fundraising page saw a surge of support in its first few days, surpassing her £200 target.
