Police are investigating after nearly 20 birds were stolen from a property in Wetheral.
The 16 golden pheasants and two Lady Amherst pheasant hens were taken from their aviary in the victim's back garden sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.
The golden pheasants are distinctive in colour as they have golden chest and a scarlet back.
