CARLISLE City Council has confirmed bin collection dates over the Christmas and New Year period.

The authority says there will be some changes to the days between Christmas Day and January 4, 2019.

Christmas Day waste will be removed on December 27, and Boxing Day bins will be collected on December 28.

December 27 waste will be taken away on December 29, and December 28 bins will be taken away on December 30.

Rubbish due to be removed on New Year's Eve will take place as normal.

Waste due to be collected on New Year's Day will be removed on January 2.

Bins due to be removed on January 2, 3 and 4 will be taken away a day later than usual, with collections returning to normal the following week.

Elsewhere, the Civic Centre will close to the public at 3pm on Friday, December 21 and will reopen on Thursday, December 27. It will also close to the public at 3pm on Friday, December 28 and will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

The city's Crematorium will be open between 8.30am to 4.30pm on December 24, 27, 28 and 31. The building will also be open from 1pm to 4pm on December 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, 30, plus New Year's Day. It will be open as usual from Wednesday, January 2.

Bereavement Services will be open from 8am to 4.30pm on December 24, 27, 28 and 31. They will be closed on December 25, 26 and New Year Day, and will be back open as usual from January 2.
