OFCOM is inviting applications to be made to launch new community radio stations in Carlisle and West Cumbria.
The city is one of 43 areas across the country where the communications regulator has opened applications for small-scale FM licences.
A list of areas, which also includes the towns of Maryport, Workington, Whitehaven and Egremont in the west of the county, were announced by Ofcom in September.
The list is based on earlier responses from individuals or groups who expressed an interest in applying for a community radio licence.
The deadline to submit an application is 3pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
