AN INVESTIGATION has launched after the attempted rape of a woman in her 30s in Carlisle.
The incident occurred on Stanhope Road, Carlisle at about 4.50am this morning (Friday).
The suspect is described as a white man, in his late 20s, tall, of muscly build, with tattoos and short hair.
He is believed to smoke cigarettes.
The man was wearing a grey jumper, blue and green Superdry coat, dark blue jeans and a belt.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Matthew Belshaw said: “We would urgently like to speak to anyone with information who might have seen someone fitting the description in the area.
“We urge any witnesses to please contact us as your information could be vital to our investigation.
“Numerous enquiries by a team of detectives are ongoing at this time to ascertain the circumstances of today’s incident.”
Anyone with information or who witnessed a man fitting this description in the area at that time is asked to contact police quoting log 29 of December 7.
