A MEETING has been held to discuss future access to Wigton Baths.

Baths chairwoman Mave Tyas met with Allerdale Council, Home Housing Association and Cumbria Highways yesterday to discuss future access to Wigton Baths.

Mave spoke to The Cumberland News prior to the meeting, explaining that she hoped to secure access rights for the new road planned for construction close to the pool.

“At the moment, the right of the road to Wigton Baths is that it can only be used by pedestrians,” she said.

“We’re hoping to change the use of that. We are hoping to get this sorted today. Highways want us to have this road, Home want us to have it. I’m sure it will happen.”

Mave added that securing easier access to the Wigton Baths was important for growing the business, especially given the state of the Stony Banks road, which has been shut for 21 days due to concerns over the safety of an adjacent wall.
