A motorcyclist is fighting for his life following a crash in Carlisle.
Police have described his condition as "critical but stable".
The crash happened on Warwick Road, at its junction with Spencer Street, at 11.40pm last night.
Two vehicles were involved - a Hyundai car and Honda motorbike.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries.
Police, ambulance and the Carlisle West fire crew all attended.
Firefighters dealt with a fuel spill from the motorcycle and made the scene safe.
They also assisted paramedics with the casualty.
The road remained closed for much of the night but reopened at around 4am this morning.
