A Whitehaven woman has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a road accident.
The woman, in her 20s, was a pedestrian, walking near to West Lakes Science Park when a Volkswagen car travelling on the A595 collided with her.
It happened shortly after 5.30pm today.
A Cumbria Police statement said: "An air ambulance attended and the woman was taken to hospital in Preston with life-threatening injuries.
"Anyone who witnessed the collision and has yet to come forward is asked to contact the police referincing incident 178 of November 24."
The woman is from the Whitehaven area, police have confirmed.
