A 17-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury following an assault in Penrith.
It happened in the early hours of Saturday, at about 3am.
Police said the teenager was attacked near St Andrew's Church.
He needed hospital treatment.
They are appealing for witnesses.
Call Cumbria Police on 101 with information.
