A couple had a lucky escape after fire broke out while they were asleep in bed.
There was no smoke alarm at their home in Ainstable, near Carlisle.
Luckily one of them woke, and raised the alarm.
It happened at about 3.30am today.
Firefighters from Carlisle East and Lazonby attended.
They said the fire started in an electrical cupboard.
The downstairs of the house was heavily smoke-logged.
They used a dry powder extinguisher to stop the fire.
Nobody was hurt.
Fire crews were at the scene for about one and a half hours.
