Croglin Film Club is returning at the end of this month.
It will be showing the 2017 British drama film Edie on the evening of Wednesday November 28.
Starring legendary British actress of stage and screen Sheila Hancock, the film tells the story of recently widowed Edie.
Playing the titular role, Hancock explores Edie’s life in the months after her husband’s death, and how her relationship with her daughter becomes ever more strained after 83-year-old Edie loses her husband.
Determined to demonstrate to her daughter that she does not need to move into a retirement home, Edie sets out to conquer one of the most difficult peaks in the Highlands of Scotland.
Bringing with her memories and complicated feelings around her relationships with her father and late husband, Edie’s ascent of Mount Suilven becomes a life affirming goal.
The 12A rated film premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival last year where the director was nominated for an audience award, and had a general release this May.
The film’s director, Simon Hunter, grew up in Dumfriesshire in Scotland. He now lives in Berlin.
Doors will open in Croglin at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.
Tickets are £5 for adults, and £2.50 for children.
A family ticket, covering two adults and two children, is £12. Tickets are available on the door.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own food and drink.
