A woman from Carlisle needed medical treatment following a crash on the A69 near Brampton.
The 50-year-old had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters.
The two-vehicle collision happened last night at about 6.05pm, between the junctions for Naworth and Low Row.
The vehicles involved were a Skoda Fabia, driven by a 50-year-old Carlisle woman, and a Volkswagen Polo, driven by a 44-year-old man from Northumberland.
The Skoda driver was treated by medical staff.
Police say her injuries were not life threatening.
The road was closed while emergency services were at the scene.
Motorists were advised to take an alternative route.
Both lanes reopened later that evening.
