A 19-year-old man charged with being in possession of a knife is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court.
Thomas Percival is alleged to have been in possession of a Stanley knife in Victoria Viaduct on July 23 this year.
He is also charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent on the same day.
Percival appeared at the city's magistrates' court yesterday where he did not enter any pleas.
Due to the nature of the charges the case was sent to the crown court.
The defendant was granted unconditional bail until he appears there for a hearing on December 17.
