RAIL passengers are set to face weekly disruption past Christmas as the RMT has announced further strike action.
The Union has taken strike action every Saturday since August 25 in a long-running dispute around the removal of train guards. It has now said it will continue to strike until December 29.
Northern says it expects to run less than a third of its services as a result with trains between Carlisle and Newcastle and Carlisle and Skipton as well as those along the Cumbrian coast affected.
The operator said: "This Saturday - the 13th consecutive Saturday of RMT strike action - we will be operating a reduced timetable with few trains running before 9am and after 6pm. The strike action, together with some cancellations on Sunday, will see Northern running reduced timetables across the weekend."
