An area of Carlisle's pedestrian shopping area has been blocked off after a tree come crashing down.
The tree was outside House of Fraser, in English Street, with the incident happening around 1pm.
It is believed to have narrowly missed a busker playing outside the department store.
No one is believed to have been hurt.
A spokesman for Cumbria County Council said: "The county council's highways team is currently responding to an incident involving a tree that fell within the pedestrianised area of Carlisle city centre.
"We are working with our tree experts to determine the cause of the incident and to better understand how and why a seemingly healthy tree has fallen over.
"Incidents of well-maintained trees falling are extremely rare, and thankfully there have been no injuries.
"The council will be inspecting all of the trees in the city centre as a precaution. Further updates will be made available in due course."
