ROAD CLOSURE: The A596 near Aspatria
A SECTION of the A596 remains completely closed after a car hit a railway bridge on Saturday evening.
The collision, which occurred at Heathfield Railway Bridge, saw one lane closed for several hours while engineers assessed the damage.
The road remains closed today (Monday) from the B5299 Brayton Road to the Langrigg turn off, and is likely to remain shut until at least tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday).
A signed diversion is in place for motorists via the A594/A595, with traffic able to use the A596 either side of the bridge.
