NEW stores are opening in The Lanes Shopping Centre in Carlisle before Christmas.

City jeweller Beadle and Hill is moving from its current location in Carlyle's Court to Scotch Street later this month.

The business, which sells high quality jewellery and watches, will be based near Lush.

David Jackson, commercial director of The Lanes, said: "It's great to have a retailer like Beadle and Hill moving in here. They are hopefully opening mid November."

Mr Jackson also confirmed that three other pop up shops have opened in The Lanes in time for the festive season.

He said: "Our pop up line consists of Seasons, a Christmas decorations shop; Calendar Club and Hawkins Bazaar."

Mr Jackson said agents are working on attracting a new tenant for the former KFC unit on the corner of Lowther Street. KFC shut its city centre operation last month as it builds a new drive-thru at the old Harraby Green petrol station on London Road. Plans have also been submitted for a second drive-thru in the car park of Morrisons, north of the city.

Mr Jackson said: "We don't have a tenant for the former KFC unit but agents are working on this."
