A boutique Lake District hotel has won a top award at the prestigious Independent Hotel Show.

Another Place, The Lake – which was formerly known as the Rampsbeck Hotel – opened last year and has since gained rave reviews from guests and critics alike.

Shortlisted in the Outstanding New Hotel category at this year’s awards, it impressed the judges who were looking for dynamism and “unique style that has influenced attitudes within the sector”.

Nominations were shortlisted by a committee of hoteliers, journalists and votes cast by the industry.

Another Place, The Lake is the first in a new collection of hotels from the team behind the award-winning Watergate Bay Hotel in Newquay.

It is set in 18 acres of Lake District National Park, with a private lake shore and views over Ullswater and the fells.

Hotel chief executive Will Ashworth said: “It was quite an undertaking to open our first hotel within the Another Place collection, but our team in The Lake has worked very hard to make our vision a reality – this award is truly a testament to them all.

“We continue to invest in and refine our brand product – never sitting still.

"For us constant innovation and attention to detail are key tools – this remains essential as we look to the future.”

“We’ve had such wonderful support from local businesses and individuals and see this as a win for Cumbria too.”

Independent Hotel Show was held at Olympia last month.
