It is high fives all around at Cartmell Shepherd after being named in a list of the UK’s top law firms for the fifth year running.

The company, which has offices across Cumbria and Northumberland, made the prestigious Lex 100 list, based on reviews submitted by trainees.

Cartmell Shepherd, which employs around 100 staff, was praised for being friendly, outgoing and goes out of its way to help people and had a great reputation across its operational areas, according to the feedback given to Lex.

Laura Bright, who qualified as a solicitor last month having joined Cartmell Shepherd as a trainee in September 2016, said: “It is a very friendly company to work for. One of the things that attracted me to Cartmells was the number of activities they do outside of the office.

“Cartmells’ training contract is well structured, providing six-month seats across a variety of departments. You are able to work alongside the directors, which is great for learning.”

Scott Garson, practice manager at the firm, who leads on recruitment and HR, added: “Providing a challenging and rewarding experience in a supportive environment is vital to ensure we train the next generation of solicitors to the high standard our clients expect. I’m delighted with this year’s results.”

Cartmell Shepherd has been shortlisted for the Best Professional Services Business category for the in-Cumbria Business Awards 2018. The winners will be revealed at The Halston, Carlisle, on November 15.
