An online appeal has been launched to support a Seaton who is fighting for her life after being struck by a car.

The appeal comes as tributes have been paid to her friend, who died following the same incident.

Audrey Tunstall, 79, of Cape Road, Seaton, died on Saturday after the crash near the Dunmail Park shopping centre in Siddick, Workington.

She was with her friend Natalli Fisher when the pair were struck by a Volkswagen Passat car as they crossed the busy A596 near the shopping centre.

Mrs Tunstall was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle where she died.

Natalli, 35, of Cape Road, Seaton, was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where she remains in a critical condition.

A fundraising page has been set up on Justgiving to raise £2,500 to help Natalli and her family.

Mandy Quinn, who has set up the page, wrote: "The community of Seaton, Workington and the surrounding areas are all praying for Natalli's recovery, during this crucial time.

"The family have the support of family and friends and all of us are wishing and hoping Natalli will fight her way through this, not only for herself but for her beautiful children."

The page, which was set up on Monday, has already raised almost £2,000.

Natalli, who has a 14-year-old son, Billy, and six-year-old daughter, Gabrielle, underwent a five-hour operation earlier this week.

Her sister Caroline Forber, 33, of Peatfield Road, Seaton, said Natalli had sustained serious head injuries as well as severe damage to her pelvis, arm and a punctured lung.

Messages of support have been posted to the page.

Ruth Eve wrote: "Keep fighting gorgeous girl.

Dawn Taylor said: "Beautiful lady inside and out, come on Nat you can do it."

Rob and Julie Huck wrote: "Thinking of you and hoping you recover very soon."

Mrs Tunstall leaves a son and two sisters.

In a tribute, her family said: "Audrey at 79 was still an elegant lady who faced life to the full.

"Many local people who knew Audrey commented on her smile, cheery words and that she was known to help anybody if and when needed and was a good friend to many people.

"This tragedy has left behind a heartbroken loving son, two sisters and their respective families.

"Audrey was close to the friend she was with at the time of the collision and as Audrey's family our thoughts are with her and her family.

"We are receiving many cards and flowers and would like to thank everybody."
