Celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the NHS have been taking place in Carlisle city centre.

Around 25 different stalls filled the pedestrianised English Street centre earlier today to showcase the wide range of services and schemes available.

Covering from cradle to grave, a range of statutory health services and trusts took part in today's event.

They were joined by voluntary and support services such as hospice experts, Macmillan Cancer Support and Blood Bikes.

Tomorrow there will be an open-air service at 2pm in St Nicholas' Gardens, Whitehaven.

It will be part of an event taking place between noon and 5pm where there will be health information stalls and family entertainment.
