A man who was threatening, abusive or insulting towards a woman in a racially-aggravated incident has found himself in court.

Callum John Newton, 32, of Buckle Avenue, Cleator Moor, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court and admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour in the town on July 29.

Newton was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months.

He was also given a restraining order, banning him from the Tiger Inn on High Street, Cleator Moor, and was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.
