FEEL The Blues is set to return to West Cumbria this month, with several leading live acts joining the line-up.

Born Healer, Thirteen Stars, Keri Farish, Roz Sluman, Redfish and Slagbank will all appear at the Royal British Legion, in Workington, on Saturday April 21 - with an additional event in Maryport the next day.

The event will raise money for the Alzheimer's Society and Maryport Inshore Rescue, and also raise awareness of how music helps those who are affected by Alzheimer's.

This will be the fourth event supporting Ann Westcott, who suffers from PCA Alzheimer's, and is a resident in Amathea care home, in Workington.

Guitarist Jon Amor had been due to headline, but has been forced to pull out as he's unable to travel. Some of the other bands on the bill will be paying tribute to him, however, by running through a selection of his songs.

It also means that each of the other acts will have extended sets.

Four-piece London band Born Healer will be returning to the region, having also appeared at the Maryport Blues Festival on the Blues Trail in recent years. The hotly-tipped outfit have previously been nominated in the British Blues Awards, and featured in Classic Rock: Blues magazine's Album of the Year list for their 2013 effort, Tattered & Torn.

Thirteen Stars have established themselves far beyond Cumbria, having toured Europe with the likes of the Quireboys, and playing international events such as the Hard Rock Hell road trip in Ibiza.

Their most recent release was 2015's White Raven album, though they have been playing unreleased material for around a year that is set to feature on the follow-up.

Cumbrian singer Keri Farish will be performing on the night. She has previously been a member of acts such as South Quay and Scarlett, while she has also fronted the prog rock outfit Gandalf's Fist for their recent Cumbrian homecoming show.

There will be an appearance from local sax player Roz Sluman, who has been a guest collaborator with dozens of live acts across the region, with well-established local bands Redfish and Slagbank rounding out the line-up - the former playing soulful originals, and the latter bringing a set-list of instantly-recognisable classics.

Doors for the show at the Royal British Legion, in Workington, on Saturday April 21 open at 2.30pm, and tickets priced £10 are available from the venue or from Maryport Navy Club.

All profits will be donated to charity.

  • There will also be a Feel The Blues event on Sunday 22 at Maryport Navy Club, from 2pm, featuring The Mustangz Trio, Born Healer and more.
