THE UK's top tribute to horror punk legends Misfits will be making an appearance in Cumbria this month.

Famous Monsters will be heading to Club Rock, in Carlisle, on Saturday August 18 for a headline set as part of a mammoth nationwide tour.

American punk icons Misfits first established themselves in the late 1970s and took the genre to new levels with a string of album and compilation releases in the early 80s, before going their separate ways.

A 90s revival was spurred on by a new legion of fans discovering them through major bands such as Metallica and Guns 'N' Roses, who covered their songs, though only guitarist Doyle and bassist Jerry Only featured in this incarnation.

Original frontman Glenn Danzig, as well as former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, came into the band in 2016, and they have continued to be a force at festivals around the world.

Famous Monsters play a heavy dose of classic Danzig-era material, 90s resurrection material, and the best songs from the current line-up, including tracks such as Hybrid Moments, Dig Up Her Bones, and Fiend Club.

Their live show, which also includes authentic make-up and props, has been praised by former Misfits drummer Dr Chud as the best tribute band he's heard.

Support for the night comes from Carlisle outfit The Meltdownz, who perform their own self-penned horror punk anthems.

The show on Saturday 18 starts at 8pm, and tickets are available in advance via
