Ellen Hall Mill is a stunning home full of character in an idyllic setting which was converted from a water mill 13 years ago.

“It was this incredible character and the surroundings which first draw me to the house,” said dentist Adriana Garrasini, who lives there with her little boy Francesco.

Being reasonably new, it didn’t need too many improvements but she has put in new floors both downstairs and up, as well as a completely new kitchen and redecorating.

The accommodation is set across three storeys and comprises a charming and spacious - 28ft by 18ft - ground-floor reception room with exposed oak beams from the original water mill workings, multi-fuel stove on a sandstone hearth and feature stone walls.

It is complemented by a first-floor lounge which is light and airy with a triple aspect. It too has a multi-fuel stove on a sandstone hearth as well as sandstone window sills, oak mantels and French doors opening to a lovely balcony.

“This is definitely my favourite spot in the summer,” Adriana said. “It’s lovely sitting there looking over the large gardens, stream and woodland.

“The balcony is made of steel and timber with glazed balustrades and doubles up as additional living space that could comfortably seat up to10 people for entertaining.”

Inside Ellen Hall Mill is a stone archway with inscription and oak flooring flowing through the hallway to the dining kitchen.

This has an array of cabinets, matching large island unit and a feature alcove area.

French doors providing access to the side and rear garden.

A shower room completes the ground-floor layout while there are four double bedrooms, two on each of the upper floors, and a three-piece family bathroom.

The house sits in its own private grounds of almost half an acre with parking for four vehicles in a cobbled courtyard area, natural woodland, large lawn areas, shrubs and trees, a natural stream and patio seating areas.

“It’s very peaceful and I know that I’m really going to miss the character of the house,” Adriana said, “but I’m having to move for family reasons.”
