Pieces of Maryport's shipping heritage can be found throughout the town and now, especially, in High street.

During the first lockdown a few High Street residents shared online research about the sea captains who had lived in the area.

Resident Dolly Daniel has gone a step further in remembering those who inhabited her house before her. They included a land agent for the Senhouse family, Mary Fell, a Workington ship owner who married James Fell, another ship owner. Then came Captain John Kendall, followed bu Captain Joseph Graham.

Mrs Daniel has researched as much of the lives of these manners as she could had the Settlement's resident artist Alan Roper design art work oon her mantlepiece to recognise the lives of those who lived in the house before her - and what she hopes will remain a reminder for times to come of Maryport heritage.
