THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (A595 NEWBY CROSS, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2019
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable T & K Gallagher to carry out utility works ("the Works), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour along that section of the A595 Newby Cross, Carlisle from a point approx. 730m south west of its junction with the A689 Newby Cross roundabout extending in a south westerly direction for a distance of approx.300m.
N.B. The 40 miles per hour speed restriction will operate where work is ongoing and when the contractor's operatives and plant are both on and off the site. It is required to protect road users passing through restricted width traffic lanes. No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations. The Order will come into operation on 11 May 2019 and 18 May 2019 and may continue in force for a period of up to eighteen months from that date as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, although it is anticipated that it will only be required for 2 days respectively.
