THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (U2940 MAIN STREET, MARYPORT AND C20I6 PAPCASTLE ROAD, PAPCASTLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2018
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road;
1. U2940 Main Street, Maryport from its junction with Ewanrigg Road to its junction with Moorside Drive;
U2940 Main Street, Maryport from its junction with Ewanrigg Road to its junction with Moorside Drive;
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted
section of Main Street, Ellenborough Road and Ewanrigg Road.
Duration: From 3 December 2018 for approx. 2 weeks.
N.B. To facilitate access and egress for vehicles of properties within the closed section
detailed in I above, the existing one-way traffic restriction on that section of the U2940
Main Street, Maryport from its junction with Ewanrigg Road to its junction with
Moorside Drive, will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the Works.
2. C2016 Papcasde Road, Papcastle from a point approx 70m north west of its junction with Drovers Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 40m;
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of Papcastle Road, Great Broughton Road, A66, Low Road (Cockermouth) and Gote Road.
Duration: From 10 December 2018 for approx, 2 days.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
(iii) Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
(iv) Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works.
(v) Apply to vehicles wishing to access/egress to/from properties within the restricted length detailed in I above.

The Order will come into operation on 3 December 2018 and may continue in force for a period of up to eighteen months from that date as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, although it is anticipated that it will only be required for on the dates detailed above.
