THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (ST PAUL'S SQUARE AND THE BACK OF LONSDALE STREET, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public whilst DL M&E Building Services Ltd operate a crane to install an air conditioning unit into the adjacent Crown Court Building, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along the following lengths of road;
1. St Paul's Square, Carlisle from its junction with Lonsdale Street, extending in a southerly direction to its junction with the back of Lonsdale Street, adjacent to the Crown Court Building; and
2. Back of Lonsdale Street, Carlisle from its junction with the Crosby Street, extending in an easterly direction to its junction with St Paul's Square.
There is no suitable alternative route available. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall: (i)Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and (ii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
(iii)Applyto personnel or vehicles being used in connection with the crane operation.

The Order will come into operation on 8 May 2021 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months, However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for I day and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
