THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (A59I NEAR AMBLESIDE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out bridge replacement works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the A591 Near Ambleside, from a point approx. 35m north west of its junction with the C50O3 Holbeck Lane, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx 245m. A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the A59I, A59I Ambleside Road, A592, A592 Rayrigg Road, A592 Lake Road, A592 The Promenade, A592, A590, A590 Greenodd Roundabout, A5092, A5084, A593, A593 Rothay Road (north bound), A593 (southbound) and A5075 Borrans Road. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency personnel and emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

4. Apply to personnel or vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

quoting the reference SL20/574. The Order will come into operation on I March 2021 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 7 nights during the 3 week period from I March 2021 between 2000 hours and 0600 hours and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
