THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (A65 CROOKLANDS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITON OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out carriageway resurfacing works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the A65 Crooklands, from its roundabout {unction with 'Crooklands Roundabout', extending in a south-easterly direction for a distance ofapprox. 2km.
Alternative Routes for vehicles will be signed and available as follows:
Motorway Permitted Traffic and HGVs (i.e. vehicles exceeding 7.5 Tonnes M.G.W)
via the unrestricted sections of the A6S, M6 Junctions 36 and 37, A684 Sedbergh, A683 Kirkby Lonsdale. Motorway Prohibited Traffic and LGVs Only (i.e. vehicles not exceeding 7.5 Tonnes M.G.W)
East bound - Via the A65, C5067 Helmside Road Oxenholme, B6254 to Kirkby Lonsdale, Fairbank, Queens Square, Market Street, Main Street and A65.
West bound - Via the A65 to Kirkby Lonsdale, B6254 Main Street, B6446 New Road, U5406 Mitchelgate, B6254, C5067 Helmside Road Oxenholme and A65. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

quoting the reference SL20/615, The Order will come into operation on 15 March 2021 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months, However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 14 days between the hours of 1830 and 0500 each day and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
