THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (B6263, A6 AND CI0I4
NEWBIGGIN ROAD, CARLISLE) [TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out resurfacing works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which Is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road;
1. B6263 (Exelby Services, Golden Fleece), Carlisle, from its junction with the A6 (Junction 42) extending in an overall north easterly direction for approx. 100m. to a point adjacent to Exelby Services Golden Fleece.
Suitable Alternative Route for vehicle permitted to use the Motorway: via the Unrestricted section of the B6263, A69(Wetheral and Warwick Bridge) and the M6(j43). Suitable Alternative Route for vehicles NOT permitted to use the Motorway: via the B6263 (Wetheral), A69 (Warwick Bridge, Rotary Way and Warwick Road), C1045 (Eastern Way) and A6 London Road and Carlton Road.
2. A6 (Exelby Services Golden Fleece), Carlisle, from its junction with U1235 (Golden Fleece Houses) extending in an overall north westerly direction for approx. 80m to its junction with A6 (Golden Fleece Roundabout).
Suitable Alternative Route for vehicles permitted to use the Motorway: via the unrestricted section of A6, B5305(Kettle Hill) and M6.
Suitable Alternative Route for vehicles NOT permitted to use the Motorway: A6 (Penrith), B5305(Wigton), A595(Wigton Road, Church St, Bridge St, Castle way), A7( Hardwicke Circus, Georgian Way, Victoria Place, Warwick Road, CI045 Eastern Way, A6 London Road, Carleton Road up to Junction 42.
3. A6 Carleton Road, Carlisle from a point adjacent to Hills BP Garage, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 170m.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles permitted to use the Motorway will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of A6 Carleton Road and London Road, Eastern Way, Warwick Road, Rosehill Roundabout and the M6. A suitable alternative route for vehicles not permitted to use the Motorway will be available via the unrestricted sections of the A6, B6263 (Wetheral), A69 (Warwick Bridge and Rosehill), CI045 Eastern Way.
4. CI0I4, Newbiggin Road, Carlisle from its junction with A6 (Junction 42), extending in an overall south westerly direction for approx70m.
Suitable Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of C1014 (Newbiggin Road), CI036 (Durdar Road) and A6 (Botchergate, London Road, Carleton Road).
N.B. The above restrictions will not run concurrently. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall: (i)Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and (ii)Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and (iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

quoting the reference CACH34I. The Order will come into operation on 22 February 2021 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 10 days between the hours of 1900 and 0600 each day, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed and not over the weekends.
