THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (U6I47 CHELTENHAM STREET, BARROW-IN-FURNESS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2020

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cadent Gas to carry out gas main replacement works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of the U6I47 Cheltenham Street, Barrow: Phase I - From its junction with the U6I38 Oxford Street, extending in a south easterly direction for approx 100m; Alternative Route: Via Oxford Street, Essex Street, Settle Street and Bedford Street

Phase 2 - From its {unction with the 116142 Warwick Street, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 120m; Alternative Route: via the restricted section of Cheltenham Street, Oxford Street, Brighton Street, Warwick Street, Stafford Street and Lancaster Street.

Phase 3 - From its junction with the C60I0 Abbey Road,

extending in north westerly for approx 65m;

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Cheltenham

Street, Settle Street, Brighton Street, Abbey Road and Stafford

Street

Phase 4 - From its junction with the C60I0 Abbey Road, extending in north westerly for approx 25m; Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Cheltenham Street, Warwick Street, Brighton Street, Abbey Road and Stafford Street

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. The phased works will not run concurrently. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and



2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

quoting the reference BA20/75. The Order will come into operation on 12 October 2020 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will be required for approx 6 months until 31 March 2021 and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
