GOUGE Richard On Friday 29th April 2022, Richard Gouge, loving husband to Jennifer for more than 60 years and father of Anna, Elizabeth and Julian, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 92. Richard was born in Carlisle on 28th July 1929 and was a passionate Cumbrian. Whilst he moved away with work, he took every opportunity to return to Carlisle to be with extended family, or walk as often as possible in his beloved Lakes. Richard received his degree from Cambridge in Civil Engineering and as well as compulsory military service, spent time in the Far East assisting with building projects, before settling in the UK. The last 14 years of his career were spent with the North West Water Authority. Once retired, Richard, Jennifer and their much loved dog could frequently be seen walking the Lakeland Fells with Wainwright in hand. Richard will rejoin his family, resting in peace in Carlisle Cemetery.
