Adults in Cumberland are more active than the average person in the North West, new figures have revealed.

Sport England said its Active Lives survey shows 2 million more people are exercising regularly compared to 2016. However, it also shows longstanding inequalities remain, with those living in deprived areas still less likely to be active.

The figures from the survey show 65 per cent of 1,492 respondents aged over 16 in Cumberland said they were active in the year to November, exercising for more than two and a half hours a week – up from 60 per cent the year before.
